3 fresh trends in the POP display industry

Retailers and mall managements have long realized the importance of attractive POP displays in their stores and commercial centers. These are some of the latest innovations that are going to revolutionize the POP display sector in the coming years.

3D letters with layering effects

These types of letters are used for creating eye catching logos, slogans and product names on the POP display stands or on shelves. They are three dimensional and stand raised about six inches off a surface. It is a welcome change from the flat and boring letters that are usually used on the Point of purchase displays. It is made of molded polymer and is available in seven modifiable colours and layering effects.

The best part is that these types of lettering are cost effective when compared to the chic high definition look it provides. They are flexible and can be set up on surfaces of any type regardless of shape and size. It is possible to get high end results by using metallic colours and lights. These are the best choices for display in electronics and appliances stores and paint shops. .

Motion sensing images

A new idea that is booming in the POP display field is that of motion sensors that reacts according to the viewer’s actions. Display options fitted on the wall, floor or counters are fitted with sensors that respond to gestures and product tags. This is called Action capture interactive technology where the system captures a person’s gestures and movements, transports it to a dedicated software which then creates matching responses. For e.g. if display shows images of leaves and a person happens to move his hands in front of it, the leaves appear to scatter as if blown by breeze. Other examples are characters that smile or speak when gestures are shown, turning pages and so on. There are images that react to product tags and ID tabs as well; similarly two images on two displays can also interact with each other. The main advantage of this technology in the retail sector will be to help a single product stand out from the others. Sometimes in certain displays, the shopper can interact with the display’s animated characters.
3D holographics

Everything is going 3D and so is holographics. Companies have now introduced holographic glass that makes images float on them in 3D. This creates amazing depth and clarity in images as well as making the view truly volumetric. Shine a halogen light on this glass and see the 3D images popping almost 18 inches of the glass. The custom made images are animated and have interesting visuals of the product in them. LCD screens are used to display the images in multiplex lobbies, malls and retail stores.
